ROSEレポートの第2回目は、オックスフォードで過ごす一週間です。

Day 8　オックスフォード観光

• We started with breakfast at 8am sharp, followed by more English lessons from 09:30 to 12:30. Today was our first private lunch, prepared exclusively for the ROSE program. In the afternoon, we boarded an open-top bus for a beautiful tour of Oxford. The sun was shining and everyone made the most of the cool breeze, warm weather and pristine view of one of the most historic cities in all of Europe.

朝8時から朝食を摂って、早速9:30から12:30まで英語の授業。昼食はROSE生だけに準備された特別のもので、食堂も貸し切りで頂きました。午後は2階建てオープントップバスで美しいオックスフォードの街を巡りました。輝く太陽に心地よい気温で、涼しい風を感じながら、ヨーロッパでも随一の美しい歴史的街並みを楽しみました。

Day 9　ブレナム宮殿、パブ体験

• Following morning English lessons in the Tsuzuki Gakuen Room, we boarded a bus in the early afternoon andmade our way to the Blenheim Palace, a World Heritage Site, and childhood home of Sir. Winston Churchill.

今日も引き続き「都築学園ルーム」での英語の授業。

授業後、午後の早い時間からバスで「ブレナム宮殿」に出かけました。世界遺産に登録されており、元英国首相のサー・ウインストン・チャーチルの生家でもあることで有名なところです。

• After returning from a grand day of taking in the splendour and richness of Blenheim Palace and its sprawling gardens and lawns, we headed back to college for an evening dinner at a traditional English pub. This was the first experience for many in the group, and all were excited to sample the various delectable treats they had ordered. The service was flawless, and the food was a collection of culinary expertise fit for a king.

壮大で豪華なブレナム宮殿と、広大で美しい庭園を存分に楽しんだところでカレッジに戻り、近くの伝統的なパブで夕食を取りました。これはほとんどの人が初体験で、自分が頼んだものに興味津々、興奮しながら美味しそうに頂いていました。サービスは申し分なく、食事もどれも一流の腕前で、“王様に食べさせても良いくらい絶品”でした。

Day 11　アフタヌーンティー

• With the conclusion of our 8^th English lesson, and after enjoying yet another delicious lunch, we set out on foot to partake in the age-old tradition of afternoon tea. The teahouse, Old Parsonage, was a piece of history that had somehow escaped exposure to our modern world. In a stonewalled garden, attached to a quaint, simple 19^th century manor, we enjoyed an array of delicious teas, fresh baked scones with handmade jams and clotted cream. It was a scene stolen from a time long passed.

早くも8回目の英語授業が終わり、いつもながら美味しい昼食を頂いた後は、伝統的なアフタヌーンティー体験に歩いて出かけました。場所はあの有名な「オールドパーソナージ」。もとは19世紀の領主宅だった歴史的な建物で、雰囲気はまるで中世そのもの。簡素で美しい19世紀の邸宅の石壁に囲まれた庭で、いろんな種類の美味しい紅茶に、焼き立てのスコーンと手作りジャムとクロテッドクリームを楽しみました。その様子は現代とは思えず、「過去にタイムスリップした」ようでした。
