At The Japan University of Economics we have included opportunities to contribute to the local area and region at the center of our students’ courses, and are serious about the development and implementation of programs that provide real experience of regional activities. Through actually visiting organisations involved in the region and experiencing what they do, students gain a deeper understanding of and attachment to the local area. Furthermore, as a school where students study business and economics, these experiences provide opportunities for students to consider the various issues of welfare, community and employment from the perspective of the residents of a region. These types of activities increase the number of people who participate in activities that contribute to the region and through cooperation spur a sense of regional community.
